Cyanotoxins and Marine Toxins
Cyanotoxins and Marine Toxins
The toxins produced by Cyanobacteria (Microcystin, Anatoxin-a, Cylindrospermopsin, BMAA, Nodularin) and marine toxins (Saxitoxin) can, in cases of excessive proliferation, be harmful to human and animal health when contaminated waters are used for water supply or recreation.
The detection and quantification of freshwater and marine algal toxins can be done using ELISA techniques and lateral flow strips, which can support rapid and informed decision-making about their potential threat to public health.
Tests available for the detection and quantification of:
-
- Microcystin
- Anatoxin-a
- Cylindrospermopsin
- BMAA
- Nodularin
- Saxitoxin
