Species Identification (Food Fraud Detection)

Food fraud involves the intentional production of food that does not meet established standards. This includes adulterated, counterfeit products, misleading labeling and the substitution of ingredients with lower quality options.  These practices aim to deceive the consumer for profit and can compromise trust and public health by introducing contaminants and harmful substances into food. The presence of undeclared ingredients or counterfeit species can be detected through their DNA by real-time PCR
